Arroyo High School Knights Wind Ensemble
Members of the 5th period Senior Band class and selected members of the percussion
ensemble make up Arroyo’s top level ensemble -  the Arroyo Wind Ensemble.  Students
in this ensemble are those who perform at the highest level of competency in the Arroyo
Band on their individual instruments. Members play musical literature that is more difficult
than that played by the Concert Band; often times, this music is rated at a collegiate level
and requires a high level of skill and technique to be performed successfully.

The Wind Ensemble performs at both the Winter and Spring concerts, at SCSBOA
festivals (local and regional, if qualified), and the EMUHSD festival.  Wind Ensemble
members may also travel to perform and compete at state or national festivals.  In the
past, the Wind Ensemble has traveled to and performed at festivals in San Francisco,
San Diego, Orlando (FL), Carnegie Hall, New York City, and Washington, D.C. where
they participated in the World Projects International Music Festival at the John F.
Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

Some members of the Wind Ensemble also perform for Arroyo musical productions in the
spring.  In addition, top performers in the ensemble are chosen as part of the El Monte
Union High School District Honor Band and perform in festivals with this group made up
of the top musicians from all of the district high schools.  Members may also audition for
SCSBOA honor groups and for the California All State honor group.
